The 11th Exchange Meeting

Event report

The 11th exchange meeting of the Kyoto Startup Support Angel Community was held on  Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Kyoto Tokyu Hotel.

This time we welcomed attendees from seven startup companies, each of which gave a presentation about their innovative businesses/projects, again in diverse fields, such as nuclear fusion, logistics digital transformation, stock photo services, and genome analysis.

A total of 64 people gathered, including Angel Advisors, Angel Investors, previous attendees, as well as those belonging to organizations involved in startup ventures, such as local financial institutions, megabanks, major securities companies, and venture capital companies.

After the 8-minute presentations by presenting companies, a Q&A session was held, where presenters and Angel Advisors actively discussed the following topics:

■ Share with us your detailed sales plan,
as the targeted customers are estimated to be somewhat niche.

■ The service requires customers to learn to follow new habits.
Share with us how you will propagate customer awareness.

■ Management of copyrights and image rights in the service is crucial.

■ The licensing or carving out the core technology
needs to be considered for industrial use.

The presenters gave the following comments:

■ Not only the comments given about my pitch,
but also the Q&A and other insights into other presenters’ efforts
were very interesting and potentially productive for my business.

■ Positive discussions on each presentation have made
the entire meeting impression as one of great enthusiasm.

■ This meeting gave me an opportunity to reconnect with related
business companies and/or venture capital companies.

■ Prior consultation regarding the pitch gave us an opportunity
        to review our business plan.

We strive to continue promoting the activities of Kyoto Startup Support Angel Community as a means to further support the early growth of start-up companies.

Aiming for all-domestic manufacture of universal drones

Presently many drones are in use for land surveys or nature observation through AI, but most of them are still not made in Japan. We aim to develop and manufacture universal drones made in Japan that are easy to access for both researchers and companies.

New energy source for the future created with laser fusion

We aim to help create a sustainable society by solving the energy problems that the world is currently facing. We plan to move forward with energy innovation through our laser nuclear fusion technology. This technology makes it possible to take out the fuel materials almost endlessly from sea water and use them as a clean energy source with no CO2 emissions, which we believe is a great solution to the present issues we share such as global warming or destruction of the environment. Also, our technology development would create another new industries, and give economic impacts by creating numerous employment opportunities at the same time. Through such changes, we will offer a sustainable and fruitful future to all the people in the world.

Last-mile distribution solution using logistics DX, realizing solutions to the current 2024 issues and a reduction of CO2 emissions

Our logistics digital transformation offers a new solution for two major logistics issues: a shortage of drivers, and CO2 emissions. We have realized a sustainable logistic system, through the following optimizations: optimized distribution according to each distributor by ADMS, our own original distribution DX system, and optimized distribution of the entire market using our ADMS Switch HUB delivery platform.

Innovation from Kyoto through our AI-based Personality Analysis System generated by using engagement surveys

This system is called ReP-EIT, Re-personalizing combined with Emerging Integrated Thinking. This approach is advocated by Professor Kazaru Yaegashi at the College of Business Administration, Ritsumeikan University. It mixes the integrated ideas of growth strategies and sustainability (ESG management) with other factors of “economic potential, sociability, and cultural value.” Through this AI-based system analysis, we personalize both the person and the company by bringing out potential creativity from the person. It is a breakthrough platform realized by a fusion of cutting-edge AI technology and the insights of professional academics.

Development of an accelerator dedicated to genome analysis

The sequencing cost of genome analysis has been reduced, but the progress in speed and cost of the secondary analysis (alignment or mutation detection) that converts the sequenced data into usable information is still slow, and this has become an obstacle to the spread of genome analysis instruments. We have developed an ASIC-based accelerator dedicated to secondary genome analysis, which not only realizes speedy data analysis, but also reduces initial and operational costs, with the aim of market expansion by promoting the spread of analysis instruments.
